When I left school everyone, including myself, expected that I would have an 'arts' based career. I was a dead cert for spending my life
as an illustrator or graphic designer.
So when the fates conspired to to get me into the computer business it rather upset the apple cart. I spent two years
as a mainframe operator and what seems like several hundred as a programmer. Then one day, Bingo! I was given the job of building a web site. After all
these years I could be a programmer and an artist at the same time.
These days there appears to be an
increasing demand for web sites with dynamic content. For this I mostly use PHP with MySQL databases. This is mainly because it was the first method I
used and, consequently the one with which I'm most familiar. I've also done a bit of ASP and I'm currently trying to get my brain around Python as well,
not that it's difficult, it's just that there's a limit to the number of programming languages I can keep in my head at any one time.
I've lost count of the number of web sites I've built over the years but the best one I've produced is always the
next one.
So, play your cards right, it could be yours!
